Abstract |
Simvastatin, the 3‐hydroxy‐3methylglutaryl coenzyme (HMG‐CoA) reductase inhibitor is effective in reduction the risk of coronary event and are generally well tolerated. Rhabdomyolysis is uncommon complication of this drug. We describe a case of rhabdomyolysis associated with concomitant use of simvastatin and clopidogrel. Rhabdomyolysis occurred 30 days after clopidogrel added to a chronic stable dose of simvastatin, and resolved after discontinuation of simvastatin and clopidogrel. We recommend careful monitoring when clopidogrel is given to patients receiving simvastatin.(Korean J Med 69:S906-S909, 2005) |
