Abstract
Simvastatin, the 3‐hydroxy‐3methylglutaryl coenzyme (HMG‐CoA) reductase inhibitor is effective in reduction the risk of coronary event and are generally well tolerated. Rhabdomyolysis is uncommon complication of this drug. We describe a case of rhabdomyolysis associated with concomitant use of simvastatin and clopidogrel. Rhabdomyolysis occurred 30 days after clopidogrel added to a chronic stable dose of simvastatin, and resolved after discontinuation of simvastatin and clopidogrel. We recommend careful monitoring when clopidogrel is given to patients receiving simvastatin.(Korean J Med 69:S906-S909, 2005)
