Abstract
Adenoma of the ampulla of Vater is a clinically important entity because it is a premalignant lesion. Endoscopic papillectomy for ampullary adenoma is a common procedure, and various associated complications have been reported. Early complications include bleeding, acute pancreatitis, and perforation, and a late complication is papillary stenosis. We report a case of late-onset acute pancreatitis caused by pancreatic duct orifice stenosis, one year after endoscopic papillectomy for ampullary adenoma. The patient was treated by pancreatic duct orifice dilation with a Soehendra stent retriever and subsequent stent insertion.
