Abstract
Actinomycosis is a chronic bacterial infection that is characterized by both suppurative and granulomatous inflammation. This bacterium usually colonizes in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract and female genital tract, and is therefore frequently involved in the cervicofacial, abdomen and pelvis regions. Thoracic actinomycosis accounts for 15~ 30% of actinomycosis cases. However, a diagnosis of actinomycosis is rarely considered due to non-specific complaints and the difficulty of direct isolation of the organism. All the common species of Aspergillosis that cause disease in humans are ubiquitous in the environment. Aspergillus infection can produce a wide spectrum of diseases; however, presentation of the disease is correlated to the immune status of the host.. Both Aspergillosis and actinomycosis are commonly seen in an immunocompromised host, but rarely with a co-infection. We present a review of the literature regarding a case of actinomycosis in a diabetic patient with pulmonary aspergillosis.(Korean J Med 72:S250-S255, 2007) Key Words : Aspergillosis, Actinomycosis, Lung, Diabetes
Key Words: Aspergillosis, Actinomycosis, Lung, Diabetes
