Abstract |
Amyloidosis is a disorder characterized by extracellular deposition of amyloid in various tissues and organs. Secondary amyloidosis occurs in patients with poorly controlled, slow-developing chronic inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. Gastrointestinal amyloidosis may uncommonly present with intestinal pseudo- obstruction. We report the case of a 37-year-old man with a 7-year history of ankylosing spondylitis who presented with intestinal pseudo-obstruction as a manifestations of secondary amyloidosis. We report this case along with a review of the relevant literature. |
