Abstract
Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVC) is a type of rare cardiomyopathy characterized by fibrofatty infiltration of the myocardium and ventricular arrhythmias. We experienced a case of asymptomatic ARVC in a 17 year-old male patient admitted for elective orthopedic surgery. A routine ECG showed epsilon waves in lead V1. Further evaluation including 2-dimensional echocardiography, Holter-ECG, signal-averaged ECG, contrast ventriculography and endomyocardial biopsy showed features compatible with a diagnosis of ARVC. We report the first case of asymptomatic ARVC in Korea, with a review of the literature.(Korean J Med 72:S196 S199, 2007) Key Words : Arrhythmia, Cardiomyopathies
