- Abstract
- Primary cardiac lymphomas (PCLs), involving solely heart and/or pericardium at presentation, are rare and usually fatal neoplasm due to the advanced stage of myocardial involvement at presentation. We report a case of PCL in a 53-year-old man who complained of abdominal distension, peripheral edema, and dizziness. Electrocardiogram showed 3rd degree AV block and echocardiography revealed a large mass in the right chambers. A diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was obtained by surgically resected tumor and bilateral adrenal mass were noticed on CT scan of abdomen. The patient was treated by systemic chemotherapy with IMVP-16/Pd (ifosfamide, methotrexate, etoposide, predenisolone) after surgical resection and, as a result, achieved near complete remission. PCL should be considered in any patient with a cardiac mass. Our experience indicated that prompt diagnosis and treatment of primary cardiac lymphoma is imperative for survival.(Korean J Med 70:S341-S346, 2006)
