- Abstract
- Anisakiasis is a parasitic disease of the gastrointestinal tract caused by ingestion of live Anisakis larvae present in raw marine fish. Anisakis of the colon is a rare entity compared with gastric anisakiasis, and its diagnostic and therapeutic aspects have not been established well. There have been about 30 cases of the colonic anisakiasis worldwide (especially in Japan), and there have been reported a few in Korea. We experienced a 50-year-old woman, who was admitted for the acute abdominal pain after eating raw marine fish, diagnosed as colonic anisakiasis by colonoscopy and treated with colonoscopic removal of the worm.(Korean J Med 70:S137-S140, 2006)
