Abstract
Spontaneous rupture of the spleen in hemophilia is a well-known but, nevertheless, rare, potentially life-threatening complication. A 41-year-old man with hemophilia presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain and severe anemia. He denied any medication use or history of abdominal trauma. Abdominal CT scan revealed splenic rupture with hemoperitoneum. Splenectomy was successfully performed. The patient made an uneventful recovery and was discharged 19 days later.
