Abstract |
Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) peritonitis is a major complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) and leads to the discontinuation of PD. Rhizobium radiobacter is an uncommon opportunistic human pathogen present in soil that is usually associated with plastic indwelling devices. Consequently, physicians usually recommend removing any plastic indwelling device to treat R. radiobacter infection. We report a case of CAPD peritonitis due to R. radiobacter that was treated successfully using oral ciprofloxacin and intraperitoneal ceftazidime for 4 weeks on an outpatient basis without removing the dialysis catheter. |
