Abstract |
Endoscopic self-expandable metallic stent insertion is a safe and effective nonsurgical palliative treatment for patients with malignant gastric outlet obstruction. Complications after stent insertion, such as stent migration and tumor ingrowth, occur frequently; however, stent fractures are rare. Here we report two cases of stent fracture after endoscopic stent insertion in malignant gastric outlet obstruction. In one case, the patient had no symptoms; therefore, he received conservative treatment, whereas the second patient’s symptoms improved after cutting and extraction of the remnant wire with scissor forceps and the insertion of a new metal stent. |
