Abstract |
Ganglioneuromas with malignant transformation originating from the adrenal gland are exceedingly rare. Here, we report a patient with a ganglioneuroma that showed sarcomatous change. In April 2006, a 40-year-old man presented with postprandial dyspepsia, left flank pain, and an abdominal mass. The huge abdominal mass overwhelmed the liver, stomach, and right kidney, and was removed through a trans-abdominal approach. It weighed 2 kg and measured 17.5¡¿16¡¿6.5 cm. The histopathologic diagnosis was ganglioneuroma with sarcomatous change, originating from the adrenal gland. Subsequently, he underwent four cycles of MAID (mesna, doxorubicin, ifosfamide, and dacarbazine) chemotherapy. As of August 2007, he is free of disease. (Korean J Med 75:S819-S822, 2008) |
