Abstract
Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is a systemic vasculitis with immunoglobulin A dominant immune complex deposits that affect the small vessels in the skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys. A 33-year old female with Behcet's disease was admitted for evaluation of both her abdominal pain and bloody stool. Abdominal computed tomography showed diffuse small bowel wall thickening and a target appearance. Renal biopsy revealed Henoch-Sch?nlein nephritis. The patient was diagnosed as having HSP with nephritis. To the best of our knowledge, the development of HSP with nephritis in a patient with Behcet's disease has not been reported so far in Korea. We report here on a case of HSP with nephritis in a patient with Behcet's disease.(Korean J Med 71:S1142-S1146, 2006)
