Abstract
Pulmonary diseases that are induced by chemotherapeutic agents represent a major diagnostic challenge. A wide variety of chemotherapeutic agents have been associated with pulmonary toxicities. Herein we report on interstitial lung disease in a patient with metastatic colon cancer, and the lung disease developed 2 months after starting administration of oral capecitabine chemotherapy. Upon discontinuation of capecitabine, complete resolution of the pulmonary infiltrates, as well as respiratory symptoms, was achieved. To the best of our knowledge, capecitabine-induced interstitial lung disease has not been previously reported on in the literature. Thus, we report this rare case together with a review of the literature.(Korean J Med 71:S1115-S1119, 2006)
