Abstract |
Extraovarian peritoneal serous papillary carcinoma (EPSPC) is a rare primary peritoneal tumor. Moreover, colonic metastasis from EPSPC is extremely rare. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of such a case worldwide.
A 70-year-old female visited our hospital due to her left lower abdominal pain and intermittent diarrhea. During the colonoscopic evaluation, a fungating mass with a whitish, smooth surface was noticed at the descending colon. Pathologic evaluation of the biopsy from the tumor revealed serous cystadenocarcinoma with a partial papillary growth pattern. Immunohistochemical stains for CK20 and CEA was negative, but CK7 was positive. The patient underwent surgical resection and adjuvant chemotherapy. The patient is currently visiting the out-patient department for follow-ups without any evidence of recurrence. We report here on this case along with a literature review.(Korean J Med 71:S924-S928, 2006) |
