Abstract |
Primary apocrine carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor that arises from cutaneous sweat glands in the axilla, eyelids, ears, scalp, anogenital region, and breast. It usually has an indolent clinical course. Membranous glomerulonephritis (MGN) is a glomerular disease that is associated with malignant tumors such as lung, kidney, breast, and gastrointestinal cancers. Although a wide array of tumors have been reported to be associated with MGN, no association with an apocrine tumor has been reported. Here, we report a case of MGN associated with a metastatic apocrine carcinoma of the axilla in a 45-year-old man who presented with generalized edema and proteinuria. The apocrine carcinoma responded to palliative chemotherapy, and the proteinuria resolved with clinical remission of the cancer. |
