Abstract
We present a case of brain abscess due to Actinomyces meyeri and Haemophilus aphrophilus in a 27-year-old woman. The patient underwent stereotactic surgery for aspiration of a brain abscess, and the pus was cultured. H. aphrophilus and Actinomyces species were identified. The 16S ribosomal RNA gene of the Actinomyces species was amplified and sequenced. There was 100% matching of the gene sequence between the isolate and A. meyeri (GenBank accession no. X82451.1) from the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). To our knowledge, this is the first report of a brain abscess caused by A. meyeri and H. aphrophilus in the world.
