Morgagni hernia is the least common type of congenital diaphragmatic hernia, occuring in the anterior midline through the sternocostal hiatus of the diaphragm, and overwhelming majority are discovered in children who frequently present with pneumonia or sepsis. Morgagni hernia discovered incidentally when the patient has reached adulthood or when they become symptomatic and usually located on the right side. Spontaneous lung herniation is in actually a variant of a traumatic hernia; it occurs after self-inflicted trauma caused by coughing, sneezing, or abnormal body motion. There is no report of concomitant case.
We report an unusual case of a 70-year-old man with a Morgagni hernia on the left side following spontaneous lung herniation.(Korean J Med 70:S236-S240, 2006)
